As a Bilingual Multimedia Journalist/Reporter & Host, you will be responsible for researching, reporting, writing, shooting, editing and presenting compelling news content in English and Spanish across television, digital, social media and radio platforms.
This position is designed for an accomplished journalist and communicator who can do more than report the news. The ideal candidate will have a strong on-air presence and the ability to host Spanish-language news segments, interviews, special reports and other programming for television, digital and radio audiences.
The Bilingual MMJ/Reporter & Host will work closely with assignment editors, producers and news leadership to develop stories that are relevant to Southwest Florida's diverse communities. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in the field, performing live shots, conducting interviews and engaging audiences in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications
  • Proven track record of strong storytelling, source-building, enterprise reporting and breaking news coverage
  • Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English
  • Strong Spanish-language writing and broadcast skills
  • Strong, engaging and credible on-air presence in both languages
  • Demonstrated ability to host and present Spanish-language content for television, digital and/or radio
  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills
  • Ability to report, write, shoot, edit and produce stories as an MMJ
  • Ability to perform live shots in English and Spanish
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with photographers, producers, assignment editors and news leadership
  • Ability to develop meaningful sources and pursue enterprise stories
  • Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, accuracy and responsible reporting
  • Comfortable engaging with viewers and communities on social media and digital platforms
Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Spanish, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Minimum one year of experience in television news reporting or a related broadcast journalism role
  • Professional experience reporting or hosting in Spanish
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Superior on-air presence and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to shoot broadcast-quality video, edit content and feed stories back to the station
  • Ability to carry and set up ENG equipment often weighing up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities
  • Report, write, shoot, edit and present news stories for television, digital, social media and radio platforms
  • Report and present stories in both English and Spanish, as assigned
  • Host Spanish-language news segments, interviews, live programs, special reports and other station content across television, digital and radio
  • Serve as an on-air Spanish-language representative of WINK News when appropriate
  • Work with assignment editors, producers and news leadership to report on breaking news, enterprise stories and highly promotable content relevant to Southwest Florida
  • Develop and maintain sources within Southwest Florida's Spanish-speaking communities
  • Identify and pursue stories that are important to Spanish-speaking audiences
  • Conduct interviews in English and Spanish and accurately translate or interpret information when appropriate for broadcast
  • Write and produce accurate, compelling scripts and reports in English and Spanish
  • Perform live shots from the field and studio in both languages
  • Research and analyze background information to provide complete and accurate reporting
  • Pitch original story ideas and enterprise reports to news managers and producers
  • Gather tips and information to develop story ideas
  • Attend community, political, cultural, social and other events to gather information and develop stories
  • Shoot and edit news events, interviews, live reports and other content
  • Produce content specifically for Spanish-language digital and social platforms
  • Make meaningful and frequent contributions to the station's digital and social media platforms
  • Engage with viewers and users through social media and other digital platforms
  • Help expand WINK News' connection with Spanish-speaking audiences throughout Southwest Florida
  • Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy and production quality
  • Review and revise work to meet editorial standards and time requirements
  • Write stories and accompanying content for the web and other digital platforms
  • Collaborate with producers, photographers, reporters and other newsroom staff
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Spanish-Language Hosting & Content
The Bilingual MMJ/Reporter & Host will play a key role in developing and presenting Spanish-language content across WINK News platforms. Responsibilities may include:
  • Hosting Spanish-language television segments and special programming
  • Hosting or contributing to Spanish-language radio broadcasts and/or radio segments
  • Hosting live digital and streaming programs in Spanish
  • Conducting live interviews with newsmakers, community leaders and guests in Spanish
  • Providing Spanish-language live coverage during breaking news and major events
  • Developing conversational, informative and engaging content for Spanish-speaking audiences
  • Helping identify topics, issues and stories that are particularly relevant to Southwest Florida's Hispanic and Spanish-speaking communities
  • Representing WINK News at community events, station initiatives and outreach opportunities
Digital & Social Media
  • Create original Spanish-language content for digital and social platforms
  • Produce short-form video, live digital content and other social-first storytelling
  • Write compelling headlines, captions and digital stories in Spanish and English
  • Engage with audiences and respond appropriately to viewer interaction
  • Identify opportunities to expand the reach of WINK News content among Spanish-speaking audiences
  • Understand how to adapt broadcast journalism for digital, mobile and social audiences
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods
  • Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone and via video
  • Ability to operate standard office, broadcast and recording equipment
  • Travel, including local driving to field locations, interviews and meetings
  • Ability to navigate indoor and outdoor environments as needed for reporting
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Visual and auditory ability to conduct interviews, gather information and review content
